Blackening
Our black oxide is guaranteed black and meets optical standards.
In addition to Black Oxide on steel and stainless steel, we also offer the black oxide process on copper and copper alloys (e.g. brass, bronze). The copper alloys require a copper flash underplating before black oxide.
We offer Black Oxide certification to:
MIL-DTL-13924 Class 1 (for steel)
MIL-DTL-13924 Class 4 (for stainless steel)
MIL-F-495 (for copper, brass, bronze)

- “No” – Processed parts will not be RoHS compliant due to coating chemistry.
- “Check” – Check with our Quality Department to determine if your part will be RoHS compliant. We will check for issues with solution entrapment and other design concerns. We can also help with your design to ensure RoHS compliance.
- “Yes” – Your parts will be RoHS compliant.
